4/11/10-Book Signing/Kids Career Workshop @ Border's, North Wales, PA

What do I want to be when I grow up?  This question is the focus of the Girls Know How Career Adventure Workshop hosted at Borders Bookstore, 1 Airport Square in North Wales, on Sunday, April 11 from 11:00am to 12:30pm and 1:00pm to 2:30pm.  Children and parents will have the opportunity to meet the author and founder of Girls Know How, EllenLangasCampbell, and have their books signed.

Through exciting games and activities, kids will uncover intriguing careers, learn about women who have risen to the tops of their fields and find out how they achieved their success. And through the Girls Know How book series, recipient of the Gold Award for Juvenile Books from the Mom's Choice Awards, they will have fun reading about girls who might be just like them.  The event is ideally suited for 2nd to 6th graders.

Approximately 100 Girl Scouts attending the events will receive a custom Girls Know How Career Adventure patch.  "When I heard about the book series, I thought it would be a great experience for local Girl Scouts to learn about the variety of careers open to them, including those not traditionally thought of for women,” says Beth Schmidt, leader of Troop 7258.  “I also wanted to show the Girl Scouts that there are other girls interested in those same career paths with limitless opportunities."  For more information, visit www.girlscouts.org.

A special appearance will be made by Jill Christine Wiley, Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen.  Jill has been named the Official State Ambassador for the Girls Know How book series.  Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, Inc. encourages positive achievement by helping to nurture and build the scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement of our nation’s youth.  Visit www.maoteen.org.
